The Final Goodbye

It was the final goodbye for us all on 7 July 2009.

Although I was at work but I couldn't help checking online news to see if they covered anything about his funeral.

The tears still rolled down after seeing this photo:

Seeing your friend being carried out like this, who will not cry?

Today I won't be writing anything much. Just a few pictures of our friend who is now gone....

A picture of him when he was young, the time when I knew him and will always remember him by.

The picture that is now all over the papers about his 'accident'.

In my last post, I said that he has really beautiful eyes. I guess this picture tells you all.

There are still some pictures I got from his friend's facebook album but I guess to respect his friend I won't be posting all of it. These three will be all and it will be the final goodbye to him.

Loss of An Old Friend

On Friday, 3 July at 1:07pm while everyone is either busy at work or doing some other things of their own, a friend whom I knew long ago passed away at Changi General Hospital.

By now, I guess many would have know that an NSF man died after a Land Rover rolled over him. And sad to say the NSF man is someone that I know.

For those who don't know, please read the articles below:

NSF officer dies after Land Rover rolls over him
4 July 2009

Second Lieutenant (2LT) Chan Wei Kit Nicholas was found pinned under a Land Rover in Seletar Camp this morning.

He was inspecting the vehicle when it rolled backwards and hit him.

A recovery vehicle was activated to lift the Land Rover, and a medical team comprising an SAF doctor and two medics from the Seletar Medical Centre attempted to resuscitate 2LT Chan immediately, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF).

2LT Chan was then sent to the Changi General Hospital (CGH).

The SAF doctor and medics continued their attempts to resuscitate him en route to the hospital.
2LT Chan was pronounced dead at 1.07pm at CGH.

2LT Chan, a full-time National Serviceman (NSF), was a Motor Transport Officer. He was taking delivery of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Land Rover in Seletar Camp when the incident happened. The Land Rover had been sent there for servicing.

MINDEF and the SAF extend their deepest condolences to the family of the late 2LT Chan.

MINDEF will assist the family in their time of grief and is investigating the incident.

Parents grieve death
Family has questions; Mindef says incident still being investigated
By Kimberly Spykerman

6 July 2009

HE WAS their only child. And the parents of Second Lieutenant Nicholas Chan Wei Kit, 21, are still unable to believe their son is gone after his sudden death last Friday afternoon at Seletar Camp, in which an army land rover rolled back, pinning him underneath.

A recovery vehicle was dispatched, although the Defence Ministry did not say how soon after the accident, to lift the vehicle off him. But 2LT Chan died in hospital of his injuries - a little more than an hour after he took over the vehicle.

His mother, a housewife, received a call at their flat in Bukit Batok, telling her that 'something had happened' to her son, and that he was in hospital. Together with her husband, an engineer, they rushed down. But by the time they got there, it was too late.

The family is still questioning what led to 2LT Chan's death. After all, he had been on military trips to Brunei and Taiwan, and had always returned safely.

His mother said she is still too distraught to probe much into the details of her son's death.

But one thing they want to know is whether any other military personnel were with their son at the time of the incident. The family said Mindef has told them that it cannot reveal this now as the matter is still under investigation.

What little they know is that 2LT Chan - a newly commissioned officer - was a Motor Transport Officer based in Jurong Camp. He had gone to the Seletar camp that day to collect the vehicle.

It is also not known if he was alone at the time but his mother said he could not have gone to collect the vehicle alone because he did not have a driving licence.

In between sobs, she said that her son would come back almost every night to the family home to have dinner before heading back to camp. She had been expecting him as usual last Friday evening - but he never showed up.

2LT Chan's cousins described him as a 'happy-go-lucky' and 'playful' person, with a keen eye for fashion. He had a passion for clothes, they said, and even chose to specialise in retail management as a student at Temasek Polytechnic.

Close friends also called him a 'cheeky and happy' man. Said his former Basic Military Training platoon mate Audi Khalid, 21: 'He was the life of the platoon.'

This piece of news really came as a shock to me.

At that time when he was prounced dead on Friday afternoon, I was probably still in bed sleeping to make up for going out the whole of Thursday night. Plus I didn't watch the news on Friday so I didn't knew that there was this incident and who was involved.

On Saturday night or should I say the midnight on Sunday, I received an sms from Bernice. My first reaction when I saw that was 'Har? Who passed away?' because the message was cut halfway so I was really shocked. When I saw that it was Nick Chan's wake I was really shocked cause I didn't know what happened. I guess I scared Queen who was beside me with my reaction.

Anyway, it was really a shock.

On Sunday evening, I met up with Nicholas Huang, Marie, Xinying, Shue Ting, Aloysius, Aaron, Nicholas Yang, Bernice and her boyfriend at West Mall.

Since it was dinner period we could only get places at Subway so we had no choice but to sit there and have our dinner.

After dinner, we headed off where the wake was. The guys took the bus while Aaron drove us girls there. Bernice headed off on her boyfriend's bike.

Throughout dinner and the journey, we were actually able to joke around and keep the mood light-hearted. However when we reached and saw the people gathering around it sort of became difficult to keep that up.

When we reached there were a lot of people gathered around because the prayer was going on and we could not pay our respects. Since that was the case we decided to go up to Nick's parents and greet them.

His parents are really nice people. Despite having loss their only son they were still strong and were able to have a conversation with us. After greeting his parents and explaining some things to Nick's mum we took a seat and waited for the prayer to end before offering a joss stick to Nick.

No matter how light-hearted the mood was I'm sure everyone is still somewhat still in their heart feeling sad over the loss of a friend whom we have not contacted since primary school graduation.

When we took our last look at him, he looked really peaceful. If we didn't know what had happened we would have thought that he was only sleeping just that the place was the coffin. But we can't forget the fact that we have lost him... forever.

The only thing that came into my mind when I looked at him the only memory that came into my mind was how he looked like when he was younger. Seriously if you were to ask me what was the only thing that I remember about him would be his baby face since our primary school days and his eyes. His eyes were so different that it makes him stand out among the everyone. However, we are not able to see his eyes ever again.

To us all, this is really a very funny way to meet up. We haven't seen Nick for years and the place that we finally see him is at his funeral. Isn't that very funny?

Being the only child in the family I can understand the grieve that his parents are going through. You wait for your son to come home for the regular dinner but the next thing you know, he will never be back.

Last night I couldn't really sleep. Whenever I close my eyes the image of Nick during his primary school days and him lying in the coffin would appear in my mind. Even now as I'm typing this the two images are flashing in my head.

Maybe it would take a while to forget, maybe it would always be there. No matter what, he will still deeply be missed.

Tomorrow would be his funeral but I won't be going. Hopefully the guys who would be there tomorrow would be able to send our final goodbyes to him.

The weather haven't been good these couple of days, the skies have been dark and gloomy. This is what we are feeling these couple of days. I guess tomorrow might be the worse day for us all.

No matter if you know Nick personally or not, I hope that all of you can pray for him.

Nick, no matter what you will always be the Nick Chan that I know since primary school. Although we were not really close and we only shared the same class for two years but you will always be one of the three Nicholas that I ever knew since primary school. You will always be the baby face and fair boy that is also being mischievous in class.

RIP our dear friend.

Frustration

Seriously I'm easily frustrated now. I don't even know why this is so.

Maybe it's because someone stepped on my landmine last night. Maybe it's PMS. Maybe, maybe, maybe...

Sometimes I wonder if I really know you at all. We might have known each other since forever but we might have never really understand each other. I might not be what I seem and you might not be what you look like.

Maybe as the years go by we have grown distant. Maybe we never really knew each other from the past. Maybe, maybe, maybe...

I don't even know what I am writing now. I guess I just need a place to vent....

The battle is over.

They are now gone.

Why do people have to keep bringing up unhappy past? Can't they just learn to let go?

Just waiting for the results now.....

Great.

I just stepped out of my room and I can already hear shoutings coming out from my parent's room where they are having the stupid meeting.

Continue shouting.

Let my granny who is sitting in the living room with one of my cousin hear what a nice family we all are.

Family Meeting

Stupid family meeting to decide what to do with my granny is starting soon at my house.

What a nice family my dad's side is. Super nice.

Updates will be coming up. That is if I can endure the 'discussion' without having to go to the mall with my sister to avoid all the stupid loud noises

4 Days 3 Nights of Fun

4 days 3 nights really past by in a blink of an eye. After waiting for like a month or so, it's over in 4 days.

After settling down in the chalet and leaving our bags in the house we went to the NTUC at e!hub and bought the things that we needed. We took a stroll back to the chalet and after we unpacked everything. All of us just lazed on the sofa bed and started watching DVD.

Our food supplies

Our supply of DVD

At around 6 plus we finally got hungry and started to heat up our Delifrance dinner which we bought at the supermarket.

After dinner we took turns showering, lazing around, watch DVDs and one by one we started KO-ing at 1 plus ending the night of Juliette craze.

Supposed to wake up at 7am on Saturday and made my way to Jurong West for my organ lesson but I was just too lazy to move. So I just switched off the alarm and fell back into sleep =P

After taking our morning showers and lazing around in the house for a bit more, we finally made our way to Escape Theme Park at 11am. However the weather wasn't on our side. Just after a ride on the pirate ship, it started raining and the rides were all stopped so we just took shelter at the covered area. However it was really boring and a bit pointless just standing around so we decided to exit the theme park for a while and went over to e!hub again.

After the rain stopped we went back to Escape again and sat on all the rides. One of the rides got our attention the most and we played on it thrice. We literally got 'Wet & Wild' and we just couldn't let King and Queen who didn't went for the ride remain dry so we were practically chasing them around Escape and getting the both of them wet. Hehe....

Since we were already wet, we decided to just stand under the shower when we got back. However it wasn't that simple. We dragged everyone into the shower and took a photo in the shower =P

We relaxed then headed off to Burger King for our dinner after refreshing up and changed our clothes.

Didn't do much for the second night except getting all the CE videos and photos from Little Prince's HD to my lappy.

Slept at 4 plus that night while watching All About DBSK Season 2.

On Sunday, all of us started waking up at around 10am or so since all of us had a late night the night before. That day we only made it out of the chalet at around 3 plus or 4 since we were like slacking around in the room with our laptops to watch video after video. After dinner we went to the beach and had fun taking photos there.

Since King's birthday was like in 2 weeks time so we decided to celebrate in advance for her. At 8 plus, together with Little Princess and King's Little Precious we went to e!hub to get the cake. Since King likes durian we wanted to get it from the durian cake shop at the mall but when we reached there they were already preparing to close the shop so we had no choice but to run all the way to Prima Deli. Luckily we were fast enough and the shop wasn't closing. We got a small truffle cake and a durian cake for her as a present.

We went back to NTUC to get some canned coffee and a bag of crackers before heading back to the chalet. Since it was a surprise celebration we lighted up the cake outside one of the empty chalets. However there were some idiots who were like trying to be funny but we were too busy to be bothered with them.

From what Queen and Little Prince said, it seemed that King was shocked and was like asking who's birthday it was. Haha...

Poor King was caked by Queen. Haha... We wanted to do something more fun but we didn't really want to get wet or dirty so we just changed it to caking our poor King.

Since it was already the last night, we took a lot of photos at the chalet. I wasn't really concentrating cause something happened at work and it just dampen my mood.

After we finished taking photos we sat around at the ground floor again and played Hana Kimi on the DVD player. As the night goes on, all of us started feeling sleepy so we decided to have instant noodles hoping that we can be more awake after that. However, that wasn't really the case. After the food we just got sleepy and all of us started to KO again one by one.

I literally jumped out of bed at 8am on Monday after my alarm went off. Got a shower after that and started packing up.

At 10:30am or so we did our final check, took our baggage and left the chalet. After handing the keys to the counter we walked over to the bus-stop at Downtown East to board the shuttle bus to Pasir Ris MRT.

Since we were already out, we decided to just hang out for the day. King, Queen, Little Princess and me sat at White Sands Mac and had our lunch there. After lunch, we spent time at Comic Connection going through the photo cards and took our pick.

Sad to say, White Sands Comic Connection wasn't enough for us. After we paid money for our purchase we took the train to Tampines and shopped at Century Square's Comic Connection for more stuff. After we got what we wanted, we sat at the sofa near the lift area and just had aimless chat.

Throughout all these time, I was busy with work once again. Haiz.... Why is break not like a break?

At 5pm we set on the journey home to rest.

I still can't believe the week passed by so fast. After waiting for so long, the chalet is over in
days.

I miss chalet. I miss the fun. Most importantly, I miss FORCE

Star Struck Part 2

Okay now allow me to continue my star struck encounter.

29 March --- My dearest Takizawa Hideaki's 27th birthday. Haha...

Anyway throughout the flight back to Singapore from KL I fell asleep cause I really didn't sleep well the night before.

Once the plane touched down on Singapore grounds, Mya and I rushed to get through the customs so that we could exit the airport faster and make our way to IMM where the autograph session was supposed to be held.

However things didn't really turned out as planned. After we exited the airport, we still had to wait for Carol, one of the members from CEFC who went to Malaysia all the way from Philippines and then over to Singapore for the autograph session.

At around 9am she finally exited the customs and the three of us climbed into my dad's van to start our very own Journey to the West. =P

On the way we chatted mostly about the boys and of course some other random stuff.
When we reached IMM at around 9:30am, my parents who were in the front seat got a shock at the queue which was already formed. The queue was already super long since half of the queue started queuing like since the night before or early dawn.

Luckily I was super lucky to be able to join the gang who were there since 4 or 5am. After I got to where they were, I shared my photos of the concert with them and took the time to rest a bit before the hatic rush for the autograph session starts.

Around half an hour after my two friends and I reached, we were allowed to queue from the autograph venue so all of us in an orderly manner slowly made our way from level 1 of IMM to the garden plaza on the 3rd level.

We were arranged to seat inside the barrier and after settling down we decided to get some food for us since most of us haven't eaten and it was like nearly lunch time. However the staff said that things aren't really settled yet so they sort of stopped us from going out of the barriers.

We waited for a while until things were more or less settled before we tried to make our way out again. This time the organizing was really bad. There was no shortcut for us to get out. Instead we had to like step over hundreds of people before we could even get near the exit to get the number tag for us to get out. Haiz... it was really bad and we all felt really guilty for causing inconvience for the rest sitting down but there was nothing we could do.

Anyway we bought lunch back and took the time to like stretch our leg muscles before we confine ourselves to our empty space for another 5 hours.

After we got back, we ate our lunch and had little chats while some of us prepare the letters they want to give to Farhenheit. I bought my paper and pen as well but I couldn't really think and my handwriting will be like super ugly if I write on my leg so I gave up after like 3 lines. Hehe... I still completed it in the end though. After I got home. Haha...

I had a really great time chatting with the group cause they are just so fun. The autograph session finally started at around 5:30pm. Shortly after the boys reached and started singing it rained really heavily. Since we were at the side we got a bit drenched as well but of course not as bad as those who were trying to watch them at the outside where there is no shelter.

The autograph session turned out to be a total madness cause everyone ended up pushing and rushing. Haiz... it got to be one of the worst autograph session I had ever went to. We were stuck in the human jam for like 2 hours before we got to breathe in some fresh air. The worst thing ever was that we were being molested. There was this girl who was like practically pressing her front onto our backs. Whenever the host said something about Fahrenheit she would shriek... note the word. It's shriek not scream into OUR ears.

My group of friends who were still with me was like hurling vulgarities at her because it was really freaking irritating. We would not breathe and were being pushed and now someone was shrieking in our ears.

You can imagine the relief we felt when we finally got to the front barrier and see Fahrenheit before our eyes.

I practially ignored Calvin and Aaron on stage cause I was like really looking forword to seeing Chun's expression when Ziee presented our mascots to him. But hehe.... I missed it. =P

Anyway I told Jiro that his new drama 'ToGetHer' is nice and he was like giving me this puppy eyes and asking 'Really?' But haha... I didn't answer him cause I just turned my attention to Chun already.

When I was in front of Chun I practically blabbered to tell him to visit our forum and to read our letters to him. He said he will and before I could really talk to him I had to leave but I managed to stay on stage a tad longer cause I was like arguing with the promo personnel on the number of lyrics book I brought up for to sign. As I was still arguing Carol got on stage to get her autograph and told Chun that I am a translator at the forum. Then he looked up and me and said, "辛苦你了" (It had been hard on you) Darn, I literally melt at that point but at this time the stupid promo person finally decided to give me the copies of lyrics book I insisted I bought up. Arh! So I just took that and faster left the stage. How nice.

After all of us got their autographs we all met at the MacDonalds. Actually not all of us just Mya, Dinah, Ziee, Nad, Cherry and her sister Angel and me. Carol decided to stay behind and wait for her Hong Kong friends who were there too for the autograph session.
Since we were all crashed we just got drinks and sat there to drink and chit chat. Suddenly don't know why the topic changed and become P-CE. Haha... We were like talking damn loud and laughing damn loud too =P But haha... who cares? All of us had like so much fun.

At around 7:30pm Mya had to leave for the airport so I got my dad to come and drive us. After my dad arrived I alerted Carol that I'll drop off her luggage for her to bring to the hostel I booked for her and I'll be sending Mya off to the airport for her to catch the flight back to KL.

Before sending Mya off, we found a place and took some photos before all of us go separate ways.

Back row (from left): Nad, me, Ziee, Dinah

Front row (from left): Angel, Mya

Back row (from left): Nad, me, Ziee, Dinah

Front row (from left): Angel, Cherry

After taking the photos and giving each other hugs, Mya and I rushed to where my dad's van which was packed outside the mall. After bringing down Carol's luggage for her, we set off to the airport.

On the way we chatted about the autograph session and of course the boys once again. Actually it's really nice having the chance to meet someone I know from online and is staying overseas cause it's really not easy for us to meet.

After sending Mya off and getting something from Daphne who came all the way to the airport to pass it to me, I hopped onto my dad's van and went home.

After shower, I took the short opportunity before sleeping to complete the letter I want to give Chun and of course hehe... rope in my sister's help to do the design on the envelope =P

Her artwork

30 March --- Seriously the whole day I couldn't concentrate at work cause my mind was wondering elsewhere. I was practically smiling to myself the whole day as I remembered what happened the day before at the autograph session and of course our little chat over at MacDonalds. Hehe...

Finally the time moved to 6pm and it was time to knock off. However since I got some special things to be done I stayed behind at the office.

At 6:45pm, I quietly took my office key and dashed off to radio building cause I knew that Jackie Chan and Daniel Wu was coming to the station to promote their movie 'Shinjuku Incident'.

When I reached the station I got a shock, there were already people waiting out there. It seems that the security stopped everyone from entering so we had no choice but to wait outside.

At around 7:15pm or so they finally exited. Everyone was so excited that they rushed up to them immediately. Since I was quite in front there wasn't really a need for me to move. Hehe...

When Daniel Wu walked past me I immediately took the chance and greeted him. I didn't really expect him to answer but well, he acknowledged it and greeted back. Hehe...

Managed to get 2 photos but in the other one Daniel looks really bad so I decided not to post that. Hehe....

After Jackie Chan and Daniel Wu left, I immediately rushed back to my office to clear my things and of course carry the bag of presents which I was entrusted to hand to Chun. I dashed all the way back to office and back to the stations cause I got news that they had already arrived.

However, I wasn't able to enter the place where they were said to be at so I had no choice but to continue waiting at the other place.

At around 7:40pm, 5 minutes before they were scheduled to go on air they came in. Since Chun was the first I immediately took the chance and gave him the bag which was in my hand. He thanked me and waited for his other brothers who were chatting with the few others who were there too.

Just before he entered the glass door he turned back and nodded his head. Hehe... Just that move was enough to melt anyone who was looking at him.

Usually the stations would not allow entrance but that day we were super lucky. No one chased us away so we stood outside the station and watched as they accepted the interview. Just before the interview started, something that Chun did made me super high!

He looked into the bag I gave him and suddenly he took out something. After taking a closer look I realized that it was the letter which I had wrote for him! I was literally shivering as I video-ed him reading that letter. I didn't expect him to read that when I dropped it in. Well, I expected him to read it but not immediately of course.

I called Nad like immediately after he finished reading and I guess I was mumbling so much that she can't really hear what I was talking about.

I sticked around until they were supposed to leave for the recording of 'Campus Superstar' at the studios.

As soon as the boys left, I dashed to the studios. At first I wanted to like sit with my friends who were there but after being there for a couple of minutes I couldn't bear all the screamings plus I couldn't find my friends so I went to the backstage. And I got to say luckily I went. Hehe...

After the first song, the boys left for the make-up room and since to get to the make-up room they have to take the lift. I took the opportunity and talked to Chun =P Although it wasn't long but still it was nice. Hehe.... Nice memories for me that night.

Throughout the recording, Fahrenheit went to the make-up room thrice. The other staff who were waiting together with me were also grabbing chances to talk to the rest of the members because its such a good chance for us. There's not many fans and it's kinda cosy too.

After the recording of their final performance all of us rushed backstage again in hope of catching them for the last time before they left. However waiting for some time we did not see them exiting.

We immediately exited the building and asked one of the crew we saw and as expected they had already left -_-

After bidding goodbyes to my new found friends, I met Dinah, Ziee and Lix at the taxi stand. All of them just look so drained. Luckily my dad came to fetch us so it wasn't that bad.

With three consecutive days of idol madness, I got to admit I was really drained but it made my day and week too. At least it was fun and most important thing is that I got to spend time with my CE friends and met up with friends I made from overseas.

To end the week off, our forum got a surprise from Chun!

He actually visited us on 2 April at 6:39pm!!!

The worst thing was no one really noticed that he was there until we saw his ID at members who visited in the last 6 hours =P

Star struck week~~~~ Finally I finished it!!!!
